Voicemails not received with iPhone 6 on iOS 10

Upgraded to iOs 10 and there are a couple of things I am seeing...

1. When the screen dims just before it sleeps, no touch or activity will brighten and activate the screen.

But more importantly,

2. No voicemails are received until phone is powered off and repowered. A missed call with message left shows a 2 on the phone badge counter...looking at the recents reduces the counter to one, but there is still no voicemail, until the phone is powered off and rebooted.

Thoughts? Anyone else seeing this?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! From what I'm seeing in your post, since updating to iOS 10, your iPhone is refusing to wake up once it "goes dim" before sleeping, and you're not seeing your voicemail in the Phone app until you restart your phone. I certainly want my own iPhone to wake up when I want it to, and I want to get my voicemails right away, so I'm glad you contacted us about this. I'm happy to help!

Here are some steps you can try to restore those two functions to their working state. Be sure to test your iPhone after each step (other than the backup):

First, make sure you have a good recent backup of your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Next, see if you have a carrier update waiting for you: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You won't lose any of your personal data, but it will remove all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper, and Privacy.
Next, restore your iPhone to factory settings: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
Before restoring from your backup, check the "sleep" function to see if it wakes up if you tap it while it's dim.
Test your voicemail while your phone is set up "as new" to see if the messages are showing up immediately.
If both features work fine, then restore from your earlier backup and test again.

If your voicemail is still not displaying correctly after the reset/restore, then you might want to contact your cellular carrier to confirm that your account is properly configured to use the voicemail service.
